Solo Scent Den Session (50 minutes)

The Scent Den is currently busier than normal. If you don't see a date, keep scrolling! We're currently booking a few months in advance. Sessions can only be booked in advance and online. Staff are not able to schedule sessions via phone or email.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCENT DEN

• This session is for one dog only, no exceptions.
• Dogs may be accompanied by no more than two humans. Larger parties will not be admitted.
• We are a scent- and fragrance-free facility. Do not attend your dog's session with scented body products or lingering cigarette/vape odour.

What is the Scent Den?

The Scent Den is Toronto's first ever indoor enriched environment for dogs. Offering a full sensory experience, it's designed to activate all your dog's senses within a safe, calm, and comfortable space. It's filled with an array of interesting smells, objects to investigate, different textures to touch and feel, as well as some tasty treats to find. 

Sessions provide a mental workout for dogs by encouraging them to indulge in instinctual behaviours like exploring, scavenging, and problem solving. The slow, deliberate movements required offer a low impact activity with lots of gentle stretching, making it the perfect activity for all dogs but especially growing puppies, senior dogs, and those recovering from injury or surgery.

Enriched environments are vital to the healing process for dogs dealing with anxiety or chronic stress. Moving freely and having choice and control over their experience builds confidence and coping skills.

For the human caregiver, it's a wonderful opportunity to slow down, get quiet, and work on observation skills. There is so much to learn from watching our dogs.

The space will be set up for you when you arrive, and we'll clean up again after you leave. All you have to do is sit back and let your dog explore.

Additional information

On the day of your session, come in through the shop's front door at 2096 Dundas Street West, where a staff member will greet you and your dog. In order to avoid interrupting your dog's session, we will wait until everyone in the party has arrived before showing you all to the back.

The Scent Den is behind the store and is reached through a tiled hallway. The Den itself is laid out with cushioning rubber mats so your dog can feel safe and comfortable while they explore.

Once you're in the Den, remove all your dog's gear, then sit back on our cosy couch and watch them explore! Refrain from giving commands or trying to guide them. Some dogs, especially if they're anxious or used to waiting for okays and commands, may take a bit of time to get comfortable with the self agency that the Den encourages.

Each session will end 50 minutes after the start time of the original booking (so try not to be late!). A staff member will come and let you know when your time is up. Exit through the hallway to return to the front of the store, and let us know how your best furiend did!
